Feeling stuck today?

DON’T WORRY, I GOT YOU!

I have felt stuck more times than I can count. It’s a part of the process that I just can’t get rid of. So, to say I know how you feel, is an understatement. Because I can’t seem to get rid of it, I’ve learned it serves a purpose. It’s supposed to be there. So if you’re feeling stuck, it’s nothing bad, it’s just part of the process.

What has helped me is giving this time a label:

The Crystal Shop

If you’ve never read the book The Alchemist, it’s about a boy who searches for a treasure he saw in his dreams. He finds out that it’s in Egypt at the pyramids, so he makes his way in that direction. In the middle of his constantly-moving journey, he comes by a crystal shop. The boy didn’t have any food, so he walked into the crystal shop and told the owner that he would clean all the crystal glasses in the shop in exchange for some food. That small gesture turned into eleven months working in the shop. Prior, the boy was in constant forward motion, following one clue after another, traveling towards the pyramids. But he spent almost an entire year working in that shop with no forward movement.

So much time passed by that he almost forgot about his dream. One day he reconnected with his dream and felt it was finally time to move forward. So he left the crystal shop and started moving forward. From the outside, it looks like the boy was stuck. Stuck in that crystal shop for almost an entire year, with his dream on hold. But here’s the thing…

He was not the same boy as he was when he first came to the shop. Now, eleven months later, he had money he could use to get him across the desert with a caravan. He also had learned a new language...the language of this new location, where he could now easily communicate with the people who could help him get to the pyramids. So, while the crystal shop seemed like a black hole of unproductivity—a place and time where the boy’s dreams were put on hold—it was, in fact, the perfect place and the perfect time to prime the boy for his next steps. It wasn’t a setback. It was a setup for what’s to come.

Btw, this is straight from Chapter 7 “The Crystal Shop” in my book You Are The Magic. See more about the book below:

So if you’re in the “Crystal Shop” right now, there is no need to worry. You’re being set up for what’s to come. Maybe you need to learn a new skill or try a new strategy. The last time I felt trapped in the crystal shop for almost two years, I actually ended up creating a lot of art during that time that I may be using in a big way in the future (stay tuned…!).

Even if you don’t do anything tangible during this time, it’s also a time of inner growth. You won’t be the same version of yourself at the end of your time in the crystal shop as you were when it began. I know that can feel untrue when it seems like nothing is happening, but these stuck moments test us in so many ways that we can’t help but grow.

You’ve got this.

And if you want an exercise to try, do an energetic reset. Here are the steps:

  1. Let That Sh!T Go: Let go of the fears, the limiting beliefs, the habits, the people, anything that isn’t serving you.

  2. Change The Stories: After you let go of all those old stories, write new ones. Create new stories like “my success is inevitable and I’m really excited to see how it all unfolds.”

  3. Act From That New Place: Start affirming those new stories and watch your energy shift. Take inspired action. Just remember, no need to rush.

P.S. Being in nature can also do wonders to refresh your energy. The ocean is my favorite way to do this. But any nature will work!

P.P.S. Sometimes people feel stuck when they’ve tried for a bit and haven’t gotten anywhere. (Like emailing 10 agents) That’s not stuck though…that’s just a sign to keep going until you get your yes. And you will get it because your success is inevitable.
